    `88 M3 for sale

    I have a 1988 M3 with a chipped `92 Non-Vanos m50 motor in it that I'm selling.
Right now I am in college and as much as I would like to keep this car and continue to enjoy it, I just can't afford a fun project car like this... I need something that i can use everyday that's a bit more practical and affordable.

The engine has about 150k miles on it. The original plan for the car was to receive a built 3.2 s50, but I've decided to use the motor for my next car as it has not been built yet. The engine has had a recent water pump, belts and almost all seals and hoses have been replaced. The car has a 12 pound flywheel balanced with the clutch inside an E30 Getrag 260 transmission and controlled by an X5 shift lever (3/4" higher closer to the steering wheel than stock and about a 35% reduction in throw). The car has 16 inch BBS RG-003 forged wheels with 225/50/16 BF Goodrich G-Force sports that have 60% life left on them. The exhaust has been custom built, and was recently changed to have an e36 M3 muffler. Coupled with a high flow cat, it really sounds great. The car itself has 207k miles and the black interior is rip-free with only broken stitching on the passenger rear seatbottom. The car looks gorgeous from a few feet away, but close inspection will reveal a few dents and chips and a bad 7" diameter area on the hood (pictured). All body panels are original with matching VINs except for the DOT-R replaced hood. The car is a genuine hennarot M3, one of a few hundred in the states; birthday 6/5/1987. I currently have the cleared CA title.

The car passed CA smog with flying colors using the stock chip, which will be included in the sale. The car has stock springs with bilstein sports, new subframe and trailing arm bushings, a low-mileage 3.73:1 LSD, TreeHouse Racing control arm bushings, a PA loudspeaker system, flush built-in power AC inverter in the center console, custom built CAI, Startec smoked tail lights and ellipsoid headlights. The toolkit is complete and the car comes with a full sized spare. The sunroof motor was replaced last week as it died and e46-coined 'mood lighting' was added to the interior for nice subtle light at night.

The car has rewired speakers with a touchscreen CD player featuring an auxillary input for an iPod or similar with a 10 inch alpine subwoofer in the trunk. The car has a host of new parts in the past few months including windhshield washer nozzles, washer fluid tank, wiper blades, radiator, hoses, various clips and seals and many many little fixes that a normal '88 M3 would need. The brakes were replaced 1k miles ago with EBC Redstuff street/track front pads and EBC Greenstuff street rear pads.

The notorious windshield cowl has not rusted through although there was minor rust underneath the sound deadening under the carpet. The factory deadening was removed, rust treated and painted over, and custom lightweight deadening material was applied. I have pictures of the process if interested.

I have received comments and compliments everywhere I go about the car and how great it looks/sounds. It's really been a hit and is great to take out through a nice canyon road on a warm sunny day.

Anyone in the San Diego area is more than welcome to come give the car a test drive, just send me a private message or shoot me an e-mail bgentile@san.rr.com for more information.

    Pictures are available at: http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h70/Bryson_05/

The sale is priced at $9995
    -or-
I am interested in a trade for a 1995 525i touring and cash for a good condition example and I would be willing to split the cost of gas and drive a moderate distance.

    Please, serious enquiries only.

    Thanks for looking,
    Bryson

Any pictures of the bottom side??? I'm interested in seeing how the e36 m3 muffler fits into the e30.

It sticks out a bit below the valence, nothing horrible though. On a non-M, it would look so out of place.

Cool. This just may be the route I go with my s50 -> e30 m3 conversion. Does the header to exhaust section need to be custom? I've heard a lot about the custom exhausts being really loud. I guess I'd live with the weight of the e36 exhaust if it fits and saves me a little money against a full custom exhaust.

check our exhaust forum; what you've heard is fundamentally wrong.

I would say the coolant tank is on the radiator, just hidden by the cold air intake.
